Qur’an Teacher Job Description

 

 

The Islamic Center of San Gabriel Valley (ICSGV) aims to preserve the Islamic identity and contribute to the development of a unique Muslim leadership according to the Qur'an and Sunnah by offering high quality, dynamic services for the physical, mental, and spiritual benefit of the entire community.

 

ICSGV is looking to pursue a dynamic new direction. The Masjid is committed to hiring a part-time Qur’an Teacher who can teach a wide variety of students. This position may transition to being full time, post Covid.

 

Key Responsibilities 

1. Develop and maintain a Qur’an Teaching program – in person and/or online – primarily targeting K-12 students.
2. Develop and maintain a Hifdh program – in person and/or online.
3. Manage all aspects of the programs: attendance, tuition, etc.
4. Collaborate with ICSGV Office Manager to effectively market the program in print and online. Will be responsible for promoting the programs over social media.
5. Recruit a qualified female teacher to teach the Qur’an to the older female students 

Required Qualifications: 

1. Knowledge of, or ijazah in, tajwid to ensure correct recitation of the Qur’an.
2. Memorized large portions of the Qur’an, preferably a Hafidh.
3. Must have an entrepreneurial spirit, and managerial and administrative skills to run the programs.
4. Must be familiar with some of the social media marketing tools.
5. Mature and broad understanding of Islam
6. Effective Arabic and English communication skills.
7. Integrity, Islamic manner, and high moral standards
8. Punctual, assertive, and a team player
9. Must be able to work with people of different cultures and backgrounds. 

Desirable Qualifications: 

1. Previous experience as a Qur’an teacher.
2. Experience with conflict prevention and resolution.
3. Basic Knowledgeable in the Seerah, Hadith, Tafseer of the Qur’an, and other Islamic sciences, highly desirable
4. Must be proficient in Computer skills.  

Work Eligibility Requirements:
U.S. Citizen OR a valid US work permit/visa

 

 Salary and Benefits:
The compensation package is very competitive and depends on qualifications and experience.
